Monolith strengthens Sainsbury’s partnership at the Big Bash

In Support of GroceryAid and Comic Relief

Monolith (UK) Ltd continues to invest in our long-term relationships with the UK’s leading retailers. This December, that meant returning to Sainsbury’s Big Bash, held at Battersea Evolution in London on 4th December 2025.

Monolith (UK) Ltd continues to invest in our long-term relationships with the UK’s leading retailers. As part of this ongoing commitment, we were delighted to return to Sainsbury’s Big Bash, held at Battersea Evolution in London on 4th December 2025.

Having supplied Sainsbury’s for around eight years, we see events like this as an important part of how we grow our business in the UK. This year, we were represented by the heads of our Purchasing, Sales, Business Development, Private Label, and Retail teams. This offered direct access to our Sainsbury’s counterparts across every area of the partnership.

Our table brought our own people together with the Sainsbury’s team, creating time to review a year of cooperation and talk through plans for the year ahead. Conversations like these help us align on priorities, identify new opportunities, and build on the trust that underpins long-term relationships.

We also hosted our own branded bar, where guests sampled products from our range, including ready-to-drink cocktails, vodka, premium black caviar, and traditional rye croutons. It gave decision makers a first-hand feel for our quality and breadth.

The Big Bash remains one of the key fixtures in the UK grocery calendar, bringing together more than 1700 guests from retail and FMCG. It also raised over £1.6 million for GroceryAid and Comic Relief, and we were proud to be part of a night that supports causes like these.

For Monolith, showing up matters. Being present alongside our retail partners and engaged with the wider industry strengthens relationships, which has always been how we like to do business. We thank our partners for their continued support and look forward to building on those foundations in the year ahead.

A unique standard of communication

A unique standard of communication

Monolith is introducing a formal standard that changes how leaders at every level are required to listen, communicate, and share information with their teams. It starts at the top.

Not optional

This isn’t a suggestion leaders can dip into when convenient. It’s a contractual obligation across every department, reporting line, and level of seniority. No exceptions, and no pausing it under pressure.

Why it matters

Problems that go unspoken don’t stay small. When people are too nervous to flag an issue, decisions get made on thinner information. That means risks slip through, and avoidable failures happen anyway, just later and more expensively. Companies with clear, safe communication channels catch problems while they’re still small. That’s what this standard is designed to do.

A new kind of culture

This isn’t a wellbeing initiative – it’s a business decision. It’s a commitment to a culture where people feel able to speak up, so problems surface sooner and accountability sharpens. It applies to every leader at Monolith (UK) Ltd, from the CEO to any line manager responsible for people, projects, or decisions.

The key difference

Most ‘speak up’ initiatives quietly put the burden on junior staff to raise their hand in conditions that don’t feel safe. This one doesn’t. Making it normal and consequence-free for people to speak up is a leader’s job, not an employee’s risk. We think that if someone can’t raise a concern without fear, that’s a leadership gap.

What we expect from leaders

Leaders must communicate in ways that never put someone’s respect, safety, belonging, or recognition on the line: listen before responding, understand before concluding, separate the person from the problem, and stay composed under pressure. Bad news is an early opportunity, not a failure to punish. Escalation should always be easy, never met with fear, shame, or public criticism. Volume was never authority

What this says about us

This is an operating standard, not a values poster. A culture where people protect themselves rather than raise a hand lets small problems grow. We’re building something different – one where truth moves freely, held together by calm authority and discipline, not fear. We’ll judge our success not by how rarely problems appear, but by how early they reach us.
